Alec Maruki

Alec is originally from Winston Salem, North Carolina and just recently moved back to the area after living in Charleston, South Carolina, where they worked as Office Manager for the College of Charleston’s Office of Institutional Diversity.

They have a Bachelor’s degree in Studio Art from UNCG and a Master’s in Public Administration from the College of Charleston. Alec has always had a passion for details, including handling events, organizing schedules, and ensuring meetings and appointments. That, along with their friendly disposition and exceptional communication skills, makes their position as Salon Coordinator at Alkali an amazing fit.

While Alec’s new to working in the beauty industry, they aren’t new to beauty! They love a great balayage and are a stanch supporter of the curling iron—their personal favorite heat tool, which they'd recommend to anyone. They also love using a hair mask and hair oil throughout the week to keep their hair looking fabulous. Alec also loves their eye brighter stick, which they would never want to go without!

Their favorite style right now is having long hair, because it lets them style their hair differently each day. When it comes to hair “oofs,” Alec’s biggest one was when a stylist made their hair blonde when they didn’t want to be blonde. Luckily, a glaze saved the day. They also had a bad haircut when they had shorter hair, which wasn’t a good time.

Alec is all about creating incredible guest experiences. They love getting to know people and highly value authenticity. They go out of their way to make others feel comfortable and truly enjoy working with people. ​
